Gather (by William Merricle)

Gather
by William Merricle

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,

Pussy cat, pussy cat, where have you been?

And now, as dewdrops in the dawn-light glisten,

Then said Jesus unto him,

Complete satisfaction with every transaction.

It’s a nice little drive to the grounds of the cemetery,

Hear those whispers, put the sword into the sheath,

Commit the perfect crime.

I’ve been to London to look at the queen.

Some feelings you wouldn’t believe.

I’m here to solve any problems you may have.

Please stay on the line.

a continuation of the rose theme. yes even to those who have seen the queen the rose is not obsolete. like this poem very much. usually not much for rhyhme but it is brilliant here.
