Epigram
by Hilda Doolittle
[first published in Poetry 1 (Jan. 1913)]

         (After the Greek)

The golden one is gone from banquets;
She, beloved of Atimetus,
The swallow, the bright Homonoea:
Gone the dear chatterer;
Death succeeds Atimetus.
