Emily Dickinson

I many times thought Peace had come
When Peace was far away—
As Wrecked Men—deem they sight the Land—
At Centre of the Sea—

And struggle slacker—but to prove
As hopelessly as I—
How many the fictitious Shores—
Before the Harbor be—

We highly recommend Come Together: Imagine Peace, a vital anthology of peace poetry published by
Bottom Dog Press.  In addition to this Dickinson poem, it includes work by Ali, Patchen, Ginsberg, Levertov,
Darwish, Berrigan, Cone, di Prima, Ferlinghetti, Frost, Gundy, Hirschfield, Hughes, Kryss, Lifshin, McGuane,
Bly, Metres, Miltner, Pinsky, Ragain, Rosen, Rashid, Salinger, Smith, Snyder, Weems and many others.
