...shame on me (by Kevin Eberhardt)

Poet Kevin Eberhardt
Kevin Eberhardt

…shame on me

Every time I look in the mirror
I wish I could still look back

Too much truth too hard to
Handle too much to carry on

My back too far to travel in
This disguise I close my eyes

& I’m somebody else but I
Can’t close my heart can’t

Shut out the cries yours or
Mine too hard to tell too

Close for comfort tomorrow’s
Already on my mind too late

To look back too far away
Too bad…

Question? Is the face in the mirror really you or your soul? I am beginning to wonder about this....

Sometimes it's hard to look in the mirror & see the person reflected is not who we wanted to be. Harder still to come to terms with that & go on to be who we really are.
