She Walks in Beauty (by George Gordon, Lord Byron)

She Walks in Beauty
by George Gordon, Lord Byron
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

this poem pretty much defies a comment from a mere mortal.

Methinks it's more perfect than any god.

(with apologies to Lord Byron, who has always been one of my very favorite poets. I'm sorry, lol, I really couldn't resist...)
HE WALKS IN BEAUTY
He walks in beauty, like the day
Of cottoned clouds and burnished blue;
And all that's best of work and play
Meet in a joyful pas-de-deux
That celebrates the gloried way
Of one more darkness gotten through.
One shade the less, one ray the more,
Supports the personality
Which thunders like the god of war
In triumph and unholy glee;
Where thinking finds itself a door,
Expressed in blogs and poetry.
And on that cheek, and o'er that chin
Unsmiling, cloaked in hooded eyes,
The grins are hidden, in the skin;
Beguiling with a bright surprise,
The child emerges from within,
And Jesus Crisis, yes, replies!
