The golden egg

Watched a TV show last night ‘bout
A chicken had his head lopped off
For the family pot only this chicken
Didn’t die sometimes life’s not very
Accommodatin’ so the farmer & his
Wife kept this chicken alive feedin’
Him with an eye dropper down his
Neck they’d hoped to make some
Money off this chicken as a side
Show oddity travelin’ ‘round the
Country even over seas 'til one day
Forgetfulness killed the chicken
(theirs not his) & all the couple got
Out of the deal was a new tractor
Don’t even know if they buried the
Chicken or ate him don’t really
Matter I guess only I’m still not
Sure which came first
